Update: My Report Card Says “Must Try Harder”

Hey Folks, sorry for the lack of updates in the last couple of weeks, a combination of illness, distraction and my general laziness have conspired to slow my march to a crawl. I do have a few things I wanted to mention though. So what’s been going on? Well…

I’ve changed the RSS feed on this blog so it now goes through feedburner, the reason for this was to add some enhancements and also give a level of abstraction if I ever decide to move hosts. If you subscribed to the old feed it should still work fine I think but you might want to sign up to the new improved one:

I’ve also been busy working on podcasts including Linux Outlaws which is an open source podcast I do with Fabian, a friend and fellow penguin fan from Germany. I haven’t mentioned it too much here because I didn’t want to give anyone the hard sell but we were mentioned in Linux Format magazine this month.

It’s a UK magazine but I think you can subscribe from other countries, it seems to be pretty big here in the UK anyway. They liked us and we came second to the legendary LugRadio in the review. It’s on page 34 of the December 2007 issue if you want to look it up. Massive thanks to Linux Format for the kind words. Amazing stuff, I’m over the moon predictably πŸ˜€

You can check out the show at – www.linuxoutlaws.org

I’m going to install gOS 1.0 tonight and have a look at it, so I’ll post a review hopefully tomorrow and then get back into the swing of things. I’ve realized that my original plan to move distros every day is just too much work to be viable long term, especially with other stuff going on in my life. I do plan to try and do 2 reviews a week though and maybe get back to posting some other types of article. Thanks for your patience everyone, I appreciate it. I have many plans for projects I can report on here and I aim to put some of them into action ASAP. Best laid plans and all that πŸ˜‰

Onwards to gOS…

  1. Congratulations Dan, you guys deserve all the accolades you get. Keep it up.

  2. CHEERS buddy. Good show.

  3. We are still waiting your Pardus 2007.3 review dan.

  4. Just installed gOS on my thinkpad x41. It has potential but still has too much of a beta feel to it and things don’t work as smoothly out of the box. If they could cross this with something like Mepis, it would be a winner.

Great job on the Linux Outlaw podcasts. It is tied with The Linux Link Tech Show as my favorite Linux podcast.
